noticed that people rearely say 'you're welcome' anymore when someone says thankyou. instead, it's more often 'no problem' or 'you bet' or 'sure. what's that about?
i am a professor at the university of oregon in the school of journalism and communication. i have worked in the advertising industry for over 20 years, mostly as a media director and i chose to work with students more than clients about 10 years ago. i realized that most of our moms said to interrupt and annoy people is impolite but i saw that most advertising was (and still does) interrupt and annoy.
i set up this blog as part of a class.
the purpose of the class is to stimulate a deeper curiosity about the societal and cultural context surrounding the planning of advertising.
